Bio(un)ethical is a podcast that questions existing norms in medicine, science, and public health. On each episode, Leah Pierson and I interview an expert about an important and controversial issue in the field of bioethics, broadly construed.
On our first episode, we interviewed Dr. Robert Steel about how research oversight committees should evaluate the risks of research, what justifies research oversight, and whether there should be upper limits on the amount of risk research participants can be exposed to with their consent. Upcoming episodes explore whether medical aid in dying should be available to people suffering from intractable mental illness, what the goals are of teaching ethics to practitioners, how we should allocate scarce health resources, and whether the research oversight system does more harm than good. We are supported by a grant from Amplify Creative Grants. Learn more at our website, biounethical [dot] com Questions? Guest suggestions? Email biounethical [at] gmail [dot] com |
